Holi is a Hindu festival, however in may western countries it is now being celebrated as ” Color Run” this is cultural and religious appropriation
Cultural appropriation occurs when members of a dominant culture adopt aspects of a minority culture in a way that is disrespectful, exploitative, or reinforces negative stereotypes.
Here are few more examples , where church groups are organizing “Color run” to counter Hindu festival of Holi, at the same time Hindu organizations are calling “Holi” as “festival of color”. Many of them are celebrating without religious aspects, without Puja.
