Majority of Hindus celebrate 31 -Dec as new year day, but is it Hindu new year?
Answer is NO
The Hindu New Year is celebrated in Bharat on the first day of the Shukla Paksha of the Chaitra month,
which generally falls in March or April. 31-Dec is just a date change as per Christian calendar.
The Hindu New Year, based on the lunar calendar, is a major cultural and scientific event.
It reflects the complex interactions of the earth, sun, and moon, and how they affect human life.
The New Year’s dates vary according to different regions and traditions, but they usually
coincide with the onset of spring and the start of a new farming cycle.
They are not fixed to 1 January, as in the Gregorian calendar.
Baisakhi, Gudi Padwa, Ugadi or Puthandu, and Odisha as Maha Vishubha Sankranti.
